The Red Cedar Inn

First things first, it’s a restaurant! It was really cool to see this very log-cabin-looking place right on Route 66 in Pacific, Missouri.

It has been remarkably restored and is now a museum and gift shop. Pacific is one of the small towns along the original Route 66, and in this case, it’s not far from the interstate, I-44.

The restaurant opened shortly after Route 66 came through Pacific. It even served cocktails, as Prohibition had only recently been repealed. It was also visited by such famous baseball players as Dizzy Dean and Ted Williams.

Definitely worth the stop! Just imagine the cars pulling in during the 1930s, travelers stopping for a hearty meal on their way to California or other points out west. You can almost picture the old cars lined up outside and the travelers taking a much-needed break from the road. That’s what makes places like this so fun to find along Route 66.
