Visiting John D. McGurks
It’s hard to beat McGurks in St. Louis. The ‘Gateway to the West’ seems like the last place for an incredible Irish pub. McGurks grew from a one-room establishment founded in 1978 to the sprawling enterprise it is now. It’s not hard to see why.
For starters, the food is incredible! They have a list of traditional Irish dishes that looked delicious and authentic. I opted for the pork chop topped with a fruit (I believe it was a berry) reduction and served with bacon potato au gratin. McGurks definitely takes time preparing these wonderful dishes.
The music is another big reason to visit. They bring performers in from, as they say, “Dublin to Galway and more.” Make sure to get there early to find a great seat and enjoy an evening of high-quality “trad” music.
Do not miss John D. McGurk’s when you are in St. Louis.
Helpful Tip- Check the Cardinals schedule in the summer because the place is flooded after the game!
