Tulsa
When you hit the big city of Tulsa, there are definitely some great Route 66 stops worth seeing!
The Meadow Gold District is an amazing stop along Route 66. It includes Buck Atom’s Cosmic Curios, with an amazing collection of funky souvenirs, Route 66 memorabilia, and plenty of things that make you stop and look twice. It also has a Muffler Man statue that looks a lot like the Gemini Man!
There are blocks filled with colorful statues, Route 66 shops, and amazing neon signs. It’s one of those places where you can easily spend more time than you planned, just wandering around and taking it all in. There is so much classic Route 66 character packed into this area.
The Cyrus Avery Bridge is another important stop. Named after the “Father of Route 66,” Cyrus Avery, the bridge is a great reminder of the history behind the Mother Road. A preserved section of the original bridge remains, giving you a chance to see a little piece of Route 66 history up close.
Tulsa is definitely a place where Route 66 feels alive. Between the neon, giant roadside statues, quirky shops, and historic landmarks, there is plenty to see and plenty of opportunities to make some great memories along the way.
